Triple moon

Hi there! I’m Kylie Dakota - aka the Wellness Witch. I’m a practitioner of massage therapy, yoga, energy work, and herbalism. I’ve been in practice for 12 years and am honored to help you on your journey of wellbeing!

Why Witch? My Philosophy

I love the archetype of the Good Witch and I believe magic can come in all forms - from a beautiful sunset to a kind word. I am inspired by this mystical archetype - the wild woman of the woods who knows how to connect with the natural world and harness it with respect and reverence in order to better life, whether her own or others’.

So too do I seek the natural paths to find and facilitate wellness!

I have a great love for nature as well as deep care for humanity and know that these two things cannot be separated. Our ancestors worked in close harmony with the earth and I seek to carry on that wisdom and help all I can with it. With respect, I am also a believer in science and the knowledge that modern medicine has provided. There is a balance to be had here: one does not have to deny science in order to follow natural health, nor does a holistic-minded person have to reject the advances of science.

I believe that western medicine is phenomenal Sick Care; I believe that natural practices of plant medicine, food, bodywork, and meditation are true Health Care.

What to Excpect : My Style

My style of massage therapy is a mixed method of techniques that focus on bringing relief to chronic or acute areas of pain and easing the stresses of the mind. I use hot stones, traditional massage techniques, and energy work to start helping your body and mind transition from sympathetic “alert & assess” mode to parasympathetic “rest & digest” mode. This transition out of the stressful state into the resting state allows the muscles of the body to follow suit and will make therapeutic techniques more effective.

We then focus on areas that feel hyper-tense, painful, or stuck. I use techniques such as cupping, gua sha, active and passive release, ashiatsu, joint mobilization, stretching, and trigger point release to help those challenging areas return to a healthier state.

I do *not* believe in “no pain, no gain!” Our sessions together will involve active communication so that we find the line of “productive discomfort” that can be worked through with relative ease and we avoid the “grit and bear it” feelings of pain. My goal is to help you return to a balanced state of being, not beat you up!

We Are a Good Fit If...

  • You are looking to establish a working relationship together.
  • You don’t want a typical spa environment or a sterile clinic; you want a down-to-earth person to connect with in a relaxed, professional environment.
  • You are happy to communicate. I have skills and an ability to listen to the body, but I am not a mind-reader and the best sessions come from clear communication.
    • If you don’t know entirely what this means, I’m happy to help you learn how to listen to your body’s signals and supply you with words to describe things - you just have to be willing!
  • You can look at your own habits, etc. and make adjustments in accordance with your best health. I could massage you every day, but if you keep doing the same thing in your daily life, your problems will keep coming back.

Yoga

Yoga has been a saving-grace practice for me for almost 20 years. It has taught me to slow down, drop into my body, and tune into my inner worlds. It has taught me the value of conscious breathing; that the breath is the bridge between our mind and body and a phenomenal tool of self-control and health. My mat and my practice have always given me sanctuary. When I choose to share yoga through teaching, I am sharing a practice that is linked to my very being, in hopes to help make the world a little bit better - one breath, one movement at a time.

I studied Hatha Yoga in Rishikesh, India at Nada Yoga School in March-April of 2016. I have my 200-Hour TTC. It was a pivotal trip in my life and I’m honored to have learned traditional yoga in the country of its origin. Traditional yoga focuses much more intently on the meditative aspects of the practice. In fact, it is said that asanas, aka poses, are simply tools to prepare the body well enough to sit in meditation. Yoga does not have to be for only the bendiest of the flexible; it is a practice for literally anybody searching to connect their mind, body, and soul through moving meditation.

I specialize in teaching seniors and differently abled folks chair yoga. I also offer private coaching/yoga flow creation for my massage clients.

Herbalism

I have been a lover of plants since I was a wee girl, though it wasn’t until my late teens (and losing health insurance for the first time) that I really dug into herbal medicine. As the story so often goes, our capitalistic healthcare system screwed me and I went searching for answers in different places. I thought, “What did our ancestors do when they had a cold? What did they do to balance their hormones and menstruation? What did they do to find peace in their mental health?” And I found answers! I found nutrition and herbal practices that made a major difference in my quality of life and wellness. Over the years, I have slowly taught myself about different herbs, as well as preparing things like salves and tinctures. I have now turned my focus to using local plants as much as possible in order to be respectful to the environment and energetically tune in with the place we live. Michigan is a beautiful, generous land and there is nourishment all around us!

In 2022, I took a half-year long course (Lindera) with renowned Michigan herbalist jim mcdonald. I’m honored to call him my mentor and have received a fantastic base of knowledge in Energetic Western Herbalism from him.

I feel confident in offering my assistance with skin, muscular, digestive, mild respiratory/common cold issues, and mental health concerns. For now, I’m only able to offer consultations whilst recommending products from other local makers & providers while I work on building my own stock of future-offerings.
